QE2’s Farewell to America in New York
Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2) and Queen Mary 2 (QM2) joined together in New York City for the last time on Thursday, October 16th. QE2’s Farewell to America Celebration included a Cunard Royal Rendezvous at the Statue of Liberty before embarking on a tandem crossing to Southampton, making QE2’s 806th and final Transatlantic voyage. The monumental day will do down in history.

NYCruise Generates over $1.1 Billion
Cruise Lines International Association’s (CLIA) newly released Economic Impact Study revealed that the New York City cruise industry generated over $1.13 billion in direct spending to the New York economy in 2007, a 3.7 percent increase over the previous year. The 13,507 cruise related jobs generated in New York represent 6.0 percent of the industry’s total U.S. direct expenditures, ranking the state fourth in the nation in terms of cruise industry spending.
